Sword and buckler: sparring.
For those of you who are uninsured, drilling the continuing the work of the last 2 weeks.
Longsword: Parter and entry to the throw. 3 throws.
Rapier: Inner and outer subjections with cuts beneath the blade.
Sword and Buckler: more on entering with crutch.
Again working on pauses and the separate actions of hand and foot.
Longsword: inversion throws. Rapier, entering to grip. Sword & Buckler: more work on the crutch.
Again we will concentrate initially on the footwork needed to make each move work, moving on to paired drills and maybe sparring.
Last night: longsword: inversion throws, rushing in from the parter and inverting your opponent, concentrating on the pivot structure covering the entry and NOT lifting with the back. Also showing them the sun.
Please note there is no Sutton class this evening. All back to normal next week.
| In the picture, the counter to a similar bind to crutch, beware the head. |
Longsword: more work on the parter, all the counters, footwork to begin with and on to partnered drills.
Sword and Buckler: more work with crutch, again footwork to start, placing the foot according to the dictates of the situation.
Monday-Tuesday: Sword and buckler: entering in crutch: we will be looking at the footwork, initiating a pause for judgement and entering against varied responses, as we have in other classes we will be training with rattan and no shield to get the formative structure correct before proceeding to synthetics and steel. Also we will be reviewing some of the rapier work of the last couple of weeks
Sword and buckler: applying spanish circle theory to the approach against first ward in crutch. Applications against cuts and binds to the right and above the left side, free play.
Longsword, working the Duplier, constant cutting, with a change through and a cut to the elbow, also working on using the hips to power the cut. As you can see from the pics, tonight we also drew on one set of students (and me) to help with cutting paths.
Continuing with last weeks work:
Rapier: Subjection to the inside to completion, entering within the angles to deliver an estocade, a grip from pressure re established.
Counters to a cut beneath the sword.
Longsword: more on the parter, further explanation of the effect of angles on pressure and reaction.
A counter to a forward and rising parry, to a reversed parry, and a lifting parry.
Also to begin with, the dreaded footwork.
Rapier: entry against the posture of the straight line, against alive, dead and dead changing to live sentiments, also two counters to a cut beneath and estocade. Longsword: parter: turning to threaten the face, the breast and a cut beneath. Duplier an a cut to the elbow.
