Rule Revisions

The school has been trying out the rule system recently, as a result we have come up with this basic format.

Exchanges.

Each bout will consist of ten exchanges.

Counted hits.

The scoring strike will be the first received/given, and any counter given within tempo.

Only the first (successful) strike from each party will be counted, the fight will then be reset.

Standard hits.

The standard hit is where one party strikes and is not struck in return within a tempo and the other party is hit and does not hit back within a tempo(or does respond but is parried/evaded).

The score +1will be awarded.

Double hits

In the case of a double strike(one hit  given and received by each party, at the same time within a tempo).

A score of -1/-1 is recorded.

In the event of one parties cut being clearly superior, a score of -1/1-A is awarded with the advantage being awarded to the giver of superior hit.

Advantage points.

advantage points are awarded in non scoring situations, they are to encourage good practice, and superior technique.

two advantage points count as one point in the final tally.

Twenty second rule.

If at any point neither party advances to fighting distance(or one side retreats constantly) , a twenty second countdown comes into effect, the last five seconds being called audibly.

after those twenty seconds the change is considered over.

In the event of  no advance a score of -/- is recorded.

In the event of a non combative retreat on the part of one party, a score of -/-A is recorded, with the advantage point awarded to the advancing party.

Summary

Successful strike 1 point (+1 to striker)

being struck  no point

double strike (being hit and hitting at same time) -1/-1

lack of approach to fight within 20 seconds -/-(no score)

Advantage issued either for a superior contact in the double hit or advancing consistently in a timed out exchange.
