We are very glad to announce that Fight Medieval and the Knight Shop, have been working on a new range of safe* training swords.
I can’t thank Bryan, and all involved enough for their great patience, in sending me everything I have asked for, putting up with constant corrections, re tunings, re-starts and long, (I mean really long) phone calls.
The net result is, we have, Three types of long sword: Each available in two materials:
Nylon:
which we recommend for drilling.
OR
High performance Plastic
which, we recommend for sparring
It is possible to use either for drilling or sparring , but we feel the two material’s individual properties make them excel most, when used in their respective fields.
All the materials from the plastic/nylon, to the grip materials, have been sourced for their quality, durability and performance.
The initial options will be:
A short handled version with four variations in balance/weight,(and now 2 possible blade lengths)
A long handled version, with a slightly shorter blade, also with four balance/weight options.

The idea of the range is to provide:
1: a safe to transport sword, that captures all the the feel of a real sword, weight, balance, feel, all the handling characteristics, of a real sword, but safe.
2: a degree of personal choice in the length and balance, to make your sword handle the way you would want it, whilst staying true to historical weights and measures.
3: a “safe”* sparring tool, that replicates the behavior of a steel sword, whilst providing a much higher level of safety.
We think, that due to the patience and hard work of those involved, we have created a range of safe* swords that are second to none, that even though (we hope you will agree) look superb, handle, even better.

*please be aware, that using any form of martial arts equipment contains risk, and safety ultimately, comes from the wielder of the tool, though these are safer than a real sword by far, they are still capable of causing injury if used inappropriately, or with excessive force.
